Why Titration Matters
GLP-1 agonists slow gastric emptying, which is great for appetite suppression but can cause GI side effects (nausea, heartburn, bloating). Titrating slowly gives your body time to adapt. Your GI tract adjusts to the slower digestion, receptors adapt to the peptide, and side effects decrease.
Jumping straight to a high dose dramatically increases the chance of severe nausea and other sides. Many people who quit GLP-1s early do so because they titrated too fast and the sides were unbearable. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
You can hold at any dose for longer than the schedule suggests. Some people stay at 5mg tirzepatide for months and never need to go higher. The schedule is a guide, not a mandate. Listen to your body.
